About the IAU
IAU, founded in 1950, is the UNESCO-based worldwide association of higher education institutions. It brings together institutions and organisations from some 150 countries for reflection and action on common concerns and collaborates with various international, regional and national bodies active in higher education. Its services are available on the priority basis to Members but also to organisations, institutions and authorities concerned with higher education, as well as to individual policy and decision-makers, specialists, administrators, teachers, researchers and students.
The Association aims at giving expression to the obligation of universities and other higher education institutions as social institutions to promote, through teaching, research and services, the principles of freedom and justice, of human dignity and solidarity, and contributes, through international cooperation, to the development of material and moral assistance for the strengthening of higher education generally.

About Palgrave Macmillan
Transforming research publishing
Palgrave Macmillan is a global academic publisher for scholarship, research and professional learning. It publishes monographs, journals, reference works and professional titles, online and in print. With a focus on humanities and social sciences, Palgrave Macmillan offers authors and readers the very best in academic content whilst also supporting the community with innovative new formats and tools. Its programme is also supported by award-winning general non-fiction titles.
Quality brings success
Excellent content is just one way Palgrave Macmillan is having such a huge impact on research publishing. The Dictionary of Economics, first published in 1894 and online since 2008, includes contributions from 31 Nobel Prize winners. Its titles are regularly prize-winning; for example, titles from our sociology portfolio have won the British Sociological Association prize four times in the last five years.
In with the new
As well as high-quality content, Palgrave Macmillan creates bold new technology. Palgrave supports its community with inventive initiatives such as Palgrave Pivot, which allows authors to publish to any length rather than a set number of words. Or Palgrave Connect, which lets librarians build their own collection of publications to suit their customers. By leading digital change rather than reacting to it, Palgrave Macmillan is revolutionising research publishing for authors and readers worldwide.
Strength in numbers
Palgrave Macmillan knows the value of good partnerships. Whether it's publishing authors, global societies or academic institutions, Palgrave is dedicated to offering a great service – keen to develop new ideas for efficiency and success.
